Retired Items - Comments

Well, I've finally had a chance to review in detail the lists of retired stamp sets, accessories and decor elements and I know you are probably wondering about some of the things on these lists, particularly, the accessories list, right?  Well, I have some information that might answer some of your questions.

Stamp Sets - you'll notice quite a few stamp sets are retiring.  Earlier this year it was announced that the new Stampin' Up! Catalog will be debuting a month earlier and will run from June 2012 - May 2013.  Also, it will be a bit smaller (will be about 200 pages) and will feature Stampin' Up! core products and stamp sets.  Stampin' Up! will have two mini catalogs which will feature our seasonal items and will run from August - December and January - May.  So, there will be new items introduced throughout the next year to meet your needs and stir your creativity!!

Accessories - oh boy, I bet this made you think - what in the heck are they doing, right?  Let me address some of these items below:

• The classic stamp pads are being retired???  What???  I know, freaked me out too!!  But, they are introducing a new foam pad to replace the current pads which should improve the stamped images we love.  I can't wait to try them!!! 

• Also, Stampin' Up! is retiring the line of craft stamp pads and refills, so if you use them, you might want to get them before they are all gone!!!

• You'll notice some of the markers and 12" x 12" card stock has been retired.  No, they are not doing away with these products, they will just be offered in a different configuration!  

• Scrapbooking Albums - I've been hoping for something like this because it appears that they will be introducing some new albums!!!  Now, this is purely speculation on my part, but I noticed that 12" x 12" Ring Page Protectors are the only thing that was not retired, so I think I know they are not doing away with the awesome scrapbooking products!  My mouth is watering and I can't wait to see what new albums they have in store for us!!!

Decor Elements/Simply Adorned Jewelry Line - these product lines are being discontinued as Stampin' Up! focuses on their awesome core products!

Never-Ending Card

I wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter and hope that your day is spectacular!  In true Easter tradition, the movie "The Ten Commandments" was on last night and I couldn't stay up to see the Read Sea part (and that too is my tradition - I love that part of the movie and never seem to stay awake!)  

I also wanted to share with you a video for a card that will definitely delight and intrigue you.  It's nickname is the Never Ending Card and its so cool!!!  So, if you get a break today, sit down, watch the video, write down the measurements and then make a sample with no stamping on it so you get the hang of it.  It's really not hard as your find out!  Enjoy the video!!

Family

I've always thought of Stampin' Up! as one big family and I certainly wasn't wrong!  We are one big family - that includes the employees at Stampin' Up!, demonstrators and you!  You know how they say you can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family?  Well, this is a family that you want to pick!!! So, let me tell you about my downline family . . .

At my downline meeting last month, one of my downline, Bev Bilger - was so excited to share with us a project that she created.  Matter of fact, she could hardly contain herself.  And, I know why.  This project was so awesome we couldn't wait to make it!!!   I bet you want to see it, don't you!  Okay . . . 

See, I told you it was awesome!  I finally got my frame and put it up on the wall in my foyer so the next time you come to a class, make sure you check it out!!!

Spreading Ink Video Tutorial

I thoroughly enjoy watercolor.  Watercolor is a term that scares some people because they feel they have to be an artist.  Oh, certainly not!!  You just have to be willing to play and I think everyone qualifies for that, now don't we?

Check out this technique called "spreading ink" using watercolor.  It looks like a ton of fun.  This video was done by Stampin' Up! and you'll hear references to a magazine called Stampin' Success.  This is a publication that demonstrators receive on a monthly basis with all kinds of goodies to help us, well, stamp, play and create!  Hope you enjoy!!!
