A couple of years ago, Stampin' Up! introduced My Digital Studio. What is My Digital Studio? It is a way of creating a multitude of projects using your computer. It is certainly not designed to replace stamping, but to use those wonderful images, designer series paper, punches and embellishments in your digital projects. I have to say, it's pretty darned cool!

For those of you that enjoy the art of creating dynamic projects using your computer, My Digital Studio is for you! There is a website devoted to My Digital Studio which, quite frankly, is unbelievable. You'll find "how-to" videos, project tips and tricks, a forum to ask questions and a place to upload your digital projects to share with others. Seriously, it's amazing!

Easy Valentine!

It's getting close the the big "V" day and you might not have had a chance to order a stamp set for Valentine's Day. But don't fear, buttons are here!

This card is so adorable and uses the Twitterpated Buttons in the Occasions Mini Catalog. Of course, you could use any buttons you have, but placing them in the shape of a heart is oh so sweet!!! And, I love the colors of the Twitterpated Buttons.

This is another card that caught my eye as I love the different elements. You could open that drawer of scraps that you have and make a ton of these cards, with each one looking so different!!! You could replace the butterfly with whatever element you wanted. The different colors, patterns and ribbon really look great!!!

So, pull out your buttons and scraps and get busy!

Create & Keep - Another Idea!

Yesterday I showed you the Simply Sent Create & Keep Kit and some of the cards we did at the class this past weekend. I wanted to share with you today a few other items for this kit that I saw at the Stampin' Up! Leadership event in January.

This card features the Paper Doily Die, Pool Party Bakers Twine and Hat Pins. Love the way they made the little flag. Oh, as I look at bit closer, I see there is also a button!!!

I think this is simply adorable! Such a cute little scrapbook that you can carry with you in your purse and show off the kiddos .. or in my case ... the kitties!!!

When I saw this one, I just wanted to pick it up and take it home! What a great idea and it would look so great on my desk!! I even purchased another kit to make it. The cool thing? You can make the box for this project and use the other items in the kit to make the scrapbook pictured above!!! Gotta love it!

Create & Keep

This past weekend, I held a class featuring the Simply Sent Create & Keep Kit in the Occasions Mini Catalog. It's really a gorgeous kit and you can do alot of things with it. This is a picture of the actual kit . . .

The kit contains 10 decorative card bases, two sheets of 12" x 12" self-adhesive die cuts, four dividers, 10 decorative envelopes and a box to hold your cards. The Item No. is 122380 and it sells for $14.95.

I decided to "step up" the cards from the kit at the class. We added some Basic Pearls and also used the Adorning Accents Edgelits and Embossing Folders. Here are some of the cards we did . . .

I will caution you that these Simply Sent Kits are quite addicting! You start decorating your cards and you never want to stop! They make great gifts, so it's a great idea to purchase several and stock up so you'll have them when you need a quick gift! I guarantee the person that receives them will love them!!!

Valentine Tree - Dresden Designs Bigz Die

I'm not embarrassed to say that 99.9% of the items in the Occasions Mini Catalog now live in my home. They like it here - it's comfortable, they have their own space on my stamping shelves and I talk to them! Yes, I'm a little crazy (that's a good thing) and let them know that I appreciate them. Now, there is one thing I did not buy, the Dresden Designs Bigz L Die. I figured, I'm not a quilter, this is something I wouldn't use, so I think I can forgo this purchase. Alas, it is not to be.

Fast forward to Leadership, San Antonio, Stampin' Up! Displays. While I'm taking pictures, I see this . . .

Okay, now, I'm in love! Then I see the die next to it and say, why didn't I purchase that die!!! I took some pictures because I knew this was something that I wanted to re-create. My mind was racing with ideas for trees for all different holidays! Here are some close-up pics . . .

I love, love, love, love this! Can you guess what item will be on my next order?

Valentine's Day!

While I attended the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference on Jan. 18-20, on January 21, I attended the Stampin' Up! Regional Event. The difference between the two is Leadership is for demonstrators that have achieved the title of Supervisor and above, focuses on ways to share Stampin' Up! with others and is similar to Convention. Stampin' Up! Regional events are open to all demonstrators, and sometimes even guests, and focus on techniques and project ideas. No matter what type of event though, I always enjoy them because I'm with my Stampin' Up! sisters and they rock!!!

At Regionals, some demonstrators participated in swaps where they swap cards with other demonstrators. This year, demonstrators submitted card samples to Stampin' Up! that were on display and Shelli (our co-founder) selected I believe eight cards as the "winners". But you know, frankly, we are all winners because we get to stamp! I wanted to share with you two of the winning projects that had a Valentine theme.

Adorable, huh!!! Both projects used the Hearts Framelits which are so much fun. I also love the Valentine box and know I have to make that. As soon as I sit down and come up with some measurements, I'll share them with you!

Stampin' Up! Stamping Room Makeover

Last year (July 2011) at Convention, there was a contest where Stampin' Up! demonstrators submitted videos explaining why they were deserving of a stamping room makeover by Shelli (Stampin' Up!'s co-founder) and her family. Tamzin Cochrane was the lucky winner of this contest and Stampin' Up! has published a video of her makeover . . .

I had a chance to talk to Tamzin last week at Leadership and asked her how her room was doing. She was so thrilled and excited about it and loves it. The only problem she had was learning where everything was! I know you'll enjoy watching this video as much as I did!!!

I truly love being a part of Stampin' Up! and all the fun we have! And no, I didn't enter the contest .... I figure I'm about 75% organized so the rest of the 25% is on me!!!!

I've never been that fond of gnomes - don't know why, they're just a little weird. You can imagine my surprise when I was looking through the Occasions Mini Catalog and saw two new stamp sets involving gnomes . . .

and I just laughed and laughed and laughed. I don't know, but they sure caught me off caught and I instantly fell in love with them! Still don't know why, but even typing this, I'm laughing! I know, I'm just not right, huh! I was also thrilled that during Leadership, there were numerous samples made by other demonstrators. Below are three of those samples . . .

Free Bag AND Chocolate

We absolutely love to stamp, now don't we? What can make it better? You guessed it - chocolate!! At our Make and Take session at Leadership, we were greeted with free goodies, such as this cute Fancy Favor box with homemade chocolate from one of the employees at Stampin' Up! And you know, my good friend, Susan Elise, doesn't like chocolate, so I was lucky enough to get two packs of chocolate! Life is good!!!

We also received a gift bag and portfolio made with some gorgeous fabric. The outside of the bag buttons onto the bag itself and it's reversible! Too darn cute!!! The tag on the portfolio was created using My Digital Studio and was signed by Shelli!! I love how they coordinate and I hope this fabric makes it into the upcoming catalog!! At each Stampin' Up! Leadership event and Convention, we always get a bag and it amazes me at the awesome bags we get! They are highly sought after from people who are not able to attend!!

I also wanted to share two card samples with you that were created by another demonstrator, Jackie Bultje. I met her on an incentive trip a couple of years ago. She is from Canada and she is such fun and I was able to spend some time with her at Leadership. I'm so lucky to have the opportunity to meet people from all over the place thanks to Stampin' Up! Candy Conversations

Well, I'm sitting in my hotel room in San Antonio, all packed and ready to go. I'm thinking about how early 4:30 am will come so I can get up and come home, but every time I leave on a trip, it always feels good to walk through the door of my home and see Mickey and the cats. Dorothy was right - there is no place like home!

This Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference was amazing, as well as today's Regional event. I've learned things like how to be a better upline, stamping techniques and seen tons of samples! I've had the chance to see my stamping sisters which I look forward to at every Stampin' Up! event. There is so much floating around in my head, it feels like a rubber ball bouncing around from side to side!!! Ouch!!!!

While I try to organize everything, I did want to share with you a sample from one of the Sample Boards that I thought was so cute! Valentine's Day is just around the corner and this sample used the Candy Conversations Stamp which is only $8.95. It's perfect for those on a budget!

See, I told you it was too cute!!!! I love how she lined up the conversations hearts in the cello bag and attached to the front of the card!! A card with sweets - can't beat that!!

P.S. I Love You!

Whenever I hear that phrase, I think of the Beatles. I swear the song instantly plays in my mind! Amazing how I can remember things from long ago, but not remember what I did yesterday!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and it's time to show the special someone that you care. I bet many of you do that every day, huh! Well, there is an awesome stamp set in the Occasions Mini that helps you create a card to add that little something extra to show you care .. check it out ...

We have several punches that coordinate with this stamp set and our Hearts Collection Framelits have a heart to cut out this heart perfectly and even layer it on a bigger heart!!! Below is a card that I made using this set.

Isn't this adorable ... and that little cupid ... he rocks!!!!! And don't think this stamp set is just limited to Valentine's Day! Every day is a special day to show someone you care!

Stampin' Up! Framelit Dies!!

I love new things. It keeps life interesting, fun and exciting. That is one of the reasons why I love the Stampin' Up! Mini Catalogs. Every four months we get new toys to play with while still enjoying some of our existing favorite products!

Some of the new items in the Occasions Mini Catalog (which debuted January 4, 2012) are the Framelit Dies (Labels and Hearts Collections) that work with the Big Shot. I decided to pull out my video camera and show you exactly how they work. Now, here is my disclaimer! My new video camera films in high def and there is a definite learning curve. I didn't realize that the picture would be so darn clear that I can film further away so you can see more. I'm already thinking about what to film next!

So, I hope you enjoy this video! Since it was only a 10 minute video, I didn't do any editing so bear me (I was afraid to count how many times I said "um"!)

Like many of you, after the Christmas decorations are put way, I always feel the urge to do some re-organizing! In the process, I discover some of the things I have in my drawers that I haven't been able to find. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly those drawers fill up throughout the year! Today was no different - I love the look of my stamp room when it is somewhat organized and things are put away. I think Darci loves it to because since the fire place mantel was cleaned off, she decided to supervise me. I couldn't help but take her picture as she is so gorgeous (and yes, I'm the biased mom!!) I don't think she's going to be happy when I put the card samples back up!!!

Yesterday, I was reading the Parade section of the newspaper and found an interesting article written by John Kralik. He talked about the importance of a simple thank you note and how he vowed to send one to a different person every day. He even published a book about it. What a great idea and a great article!!!

Now, since Christmas has just ended, there are probably a lot of people that you are grateful for. Let them know it by sending them a thank you note. In the article that I read, there were four simple steps listed for writing a thank you note:

Grab a pen and paper. Don't send an email. Handwritten notes feel special.
Be specific. Using Christmas for example, identify the gift and say one sincere thing about why you like it.
Dig into the past. After thanking your close friends and family, write to people who helped you at critical moments.
Keep it short. Your message doesn't need to be long and eloquent. Stick to a few lines so you keep the focus on your thank you and on the other person's kindness.

So, now you know what to write and who to write it to, here is a sample of a simple thank you card.

I used the Note Cards and Envelopes (woo hoo - I didn't have to cut any cardstock) which measure 5" x 3-1/2" and are the perfect size! I also used two new stamp sets! The flower is from a Sale-A-Bration set called Fresh Vintage which you can earn FREE with a $50 purchase starting January 24, 2012. The "thank you" image is from the You're My Type stamp set which is available on January 4, 2012 in the Occasions Mini catalog. I know you are excited as I am for the new catalogs!!!

I've been blessed to have many people of my life who take care of me and are there for me. So, my challenge to myself is to get busy and let people know I appreciate them! I take things in baby steps, so here is my first step! In the next two weeks, I am going to be making some simple thank you notes to send out. My goal is to have a nice stash on hand so I don't have to sit down and make a note each time I want one because there just isn't enough time to do that, huh! I think the 3" x 3" or 5" x 3-1/2" notes would work great!!! I'll keep you posted on my progress.

I'm going to share my computer geek side with you today! Yes, I love computers and technology just as much as I love stamping! I'm one of those people who feel at home with my laptop or iPad2 on my lap - it makes me feel warm and cozy (could be just the heat from the laptop, huh)! Anyhow . .

Stampin' Up! has a product called My Digital Studio. This program is designed for people for love to use digital images. You can create cards and scrapbooks of all different types and sizes - and that's just the tip of the iceberg! While I'm still in my experimental stage of using My Digital Studio, it is a product that I'm sure meets the needs of many computer geeks just like me, as well as scrapbookers! Take a second and check out My Digital Studio which is a website dedicated to the product and you'll see many, many, many things that you can do! And, there is a ton of "how to do" info here!!

Now, if you are a bit overwhelmed, it's okay because you can still use the digital images even if you don't have My Digital Studio. You can purchase the downloads and download them to use in another program. This way you can use them in other software you might have such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop Elements, just to name a couple. And, they are so affordable!!! Oh, and you can always mix and match -- meaning you can print out digital images and use them on your handmade products!!! Check out a recent download . .

You get all of this for only $9.95 and the only space it takes up is on your computer!! I've downloaded this and will be sharing some samples this month of projects that I've created. Ho Ho Ho!!

Ho ho ho .. yes I can just hear him saying that to me, can't you? Those of you who have seen me stamp, play and create, know that I make these certain giggles when I create inanimate objects ... or when I stamp animals or people! I bet you can just imagine the giggles I made when I finished putting Santa Clause together! He's is so darn cute - I just love him.

Sneek Peek!!!!

As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I enjoy so many benefits it is hard to imagine NOT being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator!! One of those benefits is being able to receive new products in advance so I can stamp, play and create! I can hardly wait to get home from my day job so I can play with all my goodies!

The first thing I do is pull out my new products and familiarize myself with them so when I show you how to use them, I actually know what I'm doing! After the class, I had quite a few of these left over . . .

And I decided to use them to create these . . .

Tidings of Joy

I hope you enjoyed this holiday weekend as much as I did. But, it sure makes it hard to have to go back to work tomorrow, huh! I relaxed, spent time with hubby and the cats, and stamped! I managed to get some of those things off my "to do" list and it felt good. One of them was to play with the Tidings of Joy stamp and watercolor. I love to watercolor because for me, it is so relaxing. Only problem is I really lose track of time! This is what I did . . . .

I did use several different methods of watercoloring but my favorite was markers and blender pen with watercolor paper. This is how I did the close up above. What I did was stamp the image onto Watercolor Paper with Craft Basic Black ink and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. To color in the image, I used the brush end of the marker and outlined the inside of area of the image, then took the Blender Pen and spread the image around towards the middle in a circular motion. You need to do this in small sections so the marker doesn't dry completely before you can blend it. This image is so perfect to watercolor because it is just the right size, not too big and not too small ... it is "JUST RIGHT" (the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears is going through my head).

I Played!!!!

After enjoying a quiet Thanksgiving with my hubby and kitty cats, I scurried off to my stamping room to do something I haven't done in a long time - just played! Now yes, I stamp a lot and I'm always preparing for classes which I love, but this was a bit different. One of my friends (Jennifer - THANK YOU) was kind enough to lend me a product that she purchased that I thought was absolutely gorgeous. Last week, I used the product to create multiple poinsettias and gave it back to her so she could play with it (that's the least I could do since it was hers). Now, I don't normally share anything on my blog that is not Stampin' Up! (well, I actually don't play with many things that aren't Stampin Up!), but these cards turned out so gorgeous, I couldn't keep them to myself. Everything is Stampin' Up!, except for the die I used to cut out the poinsettia. Here they are . . .

My Favorites!!

This past weekend, I held my bi-annual Stamp-A-Stack - this one featured Christmas cards. While the preparation for this class is time consuming, it is so worth it! I created 10 different cards and some of these cards were original designs and others were from samples posted by Stampin' Up!'s Stampin' Connection (a demonstrator-only website). Stampin' Connection is a wonderful place where there are thousands ... yes, thousands .... of samples! Just this alone, is one of many benefits I enjoy of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

Well, I wanted to share my two favorite cards from this past weekend's Stamp-A-Stack. If you know me, you know at least one of them will be a snowman, right? Yup, you are right!!

It is purely a coincidence that these cards come from the same stamp set - Snow Much Fun! If you click on the image, you'll be able to see them a tad bit bigger and hopefully can see where I've used the Dazzling Details on them. It is really hard for me NOT to use Dazzling Details on my cards - I'm addicted to that stuff!! Just the right bit of dazzle!

Both images were colored using Stampin' Up!'s Stampin' Write markers. I've been working with shading using the markers and found that if you color in one part of the image using the light color marker, then accent certain areas of the image with the darker color marker, then blend them using the lighter color marker .... it comes out great! I hope that makes sense. Experiment with this ... you'll love how it turns out!!!

Then and . . . . Now!

Prior to becoming at Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I never even thought of scrapbooking. What do I regret? Well, not becoming a demonstrator sooner! Just imagine all the pictures I have taken that would already be in a scrapbook! Then I think of all the money I could have saved by creating classroom treats when Kirk was young and Christmas gifts! Oh my!!! I am glad though that I've been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for over 10 years now and love it just as much as I did when I was first introduced to Stampin' Up! Where is this going? Well . . .

Last weekend I held a scrapbooking class using the Well Worn Designer Series Paper with a vintage theme. One of the two-page spreads was entitled "Then and Now." Check it out . . .

I love the colors and simplistic layout. I will add my pictures and then add my journaling where the stamped images are! The hard work is already done!!

If you want to get started on your scrapbooking, I have another scrapbooking class scheduled for Sunday, December 11 at 2 pm. In this class, you'll be using the Christmas Lane Simply Scrapping Kit and you will create eight Christmas-themed pages! Come and play with us - then when the holidays are over, all you have to do is put your pictures on the pages and you created a keepsake which you'll enjoy for many years to come!!!!

Craft Whisper White and Blender Pen

Ah, an absolutely gorgeous day here in Norfolk, Virginia. I have to say this is a perfect day weather wise - one I wish we could have every day!!! And, to make it even better, I had a weekend of stamping with my three stamp clubs where we created three gorgeous Christmas cards. While I do love them all, I'll share my favorite with you.

We did this card at my downline meeting this past Tuesday night and Beverly shared this as one of our make and take projects. I immediately fell in love with it and told her I was going to use it this weekend at the stamp clubs. I truly think everyone loved it as much as I did! Check it out . . .

See, told you it was gorgeous! One thing that I learned here that I had not done before, was coloring in the bird using a Blender Pen and Craft Whisper White Stamp Pad. It certainly makes the bird pop! Definitely will be one of my Christmas cards this season!!!
