Thanksgiving Place Card

I've made it to another Friday - oh gosh, Friday's are my absolutely favorite days of the week!!! I got to sleep in a little bit and have a Pedicure this morning (if you've never had one, you should!!) and then off to run errands and the sun is shining!! Woo hoo!!!

So, before I get on with my day, I always do some computer surfing and visited my Stampin' Up! Website. Yes , even I do that to see what I've posted - he he!!! That sounds kind of weird, right? Well, let me explain. My Stampin' Up! website contains content that I put in the website, along with content directly from Stampin' Up! With both of us working together, we can bring you the most current information as well as an assortment of projects using all types of Stampin' Up! products! I really love it!! So, I'm looking in my Creative Projects section and they have posted this adorable Place Card! You know I love it especially because it uses one of my favorite DSP's - Autumn Meadows! I think I need to stock up on that paper for sure!!! This is such a great idea! To view the products used in this project, CLICK HERE!

I hope you have a wonderful and enjoyable day. An update on Darci - she had her stitches out yesterday and she's not supposed to be jumping around - yeah, right!!! She's so back to normal and Dugan is thrilled to have this playmate feeling much better!!!

Goblin Greetings

Just a few more days until the Goblins come out and trick or treat. I still remember being a young kid and getting a pillow case and making two or three trips through the neighborhood getting tons of candy, then mom going through it before we could eat any. I'm sadden that some of the freedom we had back in the 60's is gone, but glad that trick and treating is still around! I will say that there is some stigma in my neighborhood where people do not put on their porch lights, so we do not have may trick or treaters - what's up with that! They really miss out because the kids are too cute in their costumes!

Last night, I made these treat holders for my boss's son's Halloween Party at school. He's in first grade and I look forward to all his events so I can make treats!!! I probably get more fun out of it then he does, but that's okay. Now, all they have to do it put in the candy and hand out the treats at the party! I used the Sweet Treat Cups along with the Sweet Centers stamp set - they go together perfectly!

Hope you enjoy the upcoming Halloween event - relax and enjoy it - and I hope you gets lots of trick or treaters!!

Back in the Day . . .

Today I wanted to share with you some pictures from my past. Wasn't I just too cute?? Since Kirk found the "old" pictures for me, I've been trying to scan them into the computer and experimenting with printing them, etc. While this is a tad time consuming, it certainly is a labor of love. I'm torn between doing regular scrapbooking with hard copies of the photos or digital scrapbooking. I just can't make up my mind. Knowing me, I'll probably end up doing both. The page above was created using Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio. When dealing with old photos, I know I want the background to be subtle because the focus is the pictures! I love the way this page turned out!!

Stay tuned for more, I found a picture of me and my first day of school!!!! Woo hoo!!!!

Fall Scrapbook Pages

Unlike yesterday, today actually felt like fall with the leaves falling from the trees, football on the television and pulling out a sweater to take off the chill. Yummy - love this weather! Along with all this, goodness today was our Scrapbooking with Phyllis Class which is always a chance for me to get some more pages done - and a chance for you to do the same. I had a hard time preparing this class at first because part of me wanted to do a Christmas page and the other part of me wanted to do an autumn page. Guess who won! See, I absolutely adore the Autumn Meadows DSP so I just had to use it again! You've seen in my prior posts where I've made cards using the Autumn Meadows DSP, so now I'm going to share with you some scrapbook pages. The first two pages are the ones we did in class. Keep in mind that when I put the pictures on the pages, I did add some embellishments that we didn't include in the class. You know, those little personalized touches to the page that you can do only after the photos in place! The second two pages are ones that I did using the rest of the photos from my trip. I am actually make a dent in my box of photos thanks to my scrapbooking classes! I hope you enjoy the pages and that your weekend was a blast!

October Downline Meeting Samples

Each month I have a meeting with my downline and a few other demonstrators where we discuss business topics and then do everyone's favorite thing - STAMP! We also do a swap where each person brings so many of the same card and we each take one and end up with a bunch of cards. These are always so much fun because alot of time we end up with cards using stamp sets that we don't have (I know, surprisingly enough I do not own every stamp set - he he). Below are the swaps from our October meeting. I've listed the names of the creator when I have it (sometimes the girls don't put their names on their projects, I don't know why, they do such GREAT work). Hope you enjoy!!

Beverly Bilger (?)

Phyllis Johnson

Myrna Holmes

Maria Reich

Jennifer Hakki

Vicki Schulz

If I "messed up" with a name, let me know and I'll fix it! Thanks so much!!

Quick and Easy Christmas Card

Are you . . .

thinking about your Christmas cards?

thinking that you might not have enough time to get them done?

thinking that you would really like hand stamped cards to send?

thinking that it's just too hard to cut all that cardstock?

If so, well and even if NOT so, this card is for you!! Let me tell you about it, please??

We created this card at the October Stamp, Play and Create. The image on this card is just ONE stamp!!! All we did was ink the image with Handsome Hunter Classic ink. Then using a Sponge Dauber, we dabbed on Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (in the Holiday Mini catalog) onto the trees in the image and then stamped!! It's hard to get shimmery things to show up in pictures, but notice how the trees look different than the bird and the words?? It really looks like you did alot of work - but you didn't and I won't tell - promise!!! Now, I did add one more item to the card - using my Color Spritzer Tool and Mellow Moss Stampin' Write Marker, I spritzed on some spatter around the edge of the card. The measurements for the cardstock are: Very Vanilla - 4" x 5-1/4" and Handsome Hunter - 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4"). For a better view of the card, just click on it!!

Hope you enjoy this card - it is one of my Christmas cards!!!

p.s. - today is Darci's surgery so say a little kitty cat prayer that she comes through as well as her brother did when he had his last month!! :-)

Still Wandering with Words

I can't believe that I wasn't going to purchase this stamp set!! What was I thinking!

This is another card from my day of stamping play with the Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper and the Wandering Words stamp set. Everytime I pull out the Autumn Meadows DSP, I think about how gorgeous that Taken with Teal color is with the other traditional fall colors. I know, you're tired of hearing that, huh!!!

For this card, I inked my stamp with More Mustard ink. Then I colored in some of the leaves with either Taken with Teal or Really Rust Stampin' Write Markers. It's okay to color on the leaves when they have the More Mustard ink of them because the More Mustard ink is lighter! You can always remove the ink from the images you want to color with a Blender Pen and then color the images!

I may be overly optimistic, but I hope to do some stamping tonight! Ah, that puts a smile on my face!! Have a GREAT day!

Pop Up Christmas Tree Card

Happy Monday to you all! It's an exciting day here in Norfolk as we might actually see the sun today (since I don't think we've seen it since Wednesday of last week). Hopefully, that will make my Monday just a tad bit easier (there is just something about Monday's that I just don't like). Anyway, I wanted to share with you the card we made this past weekend at the Bold Brights and Rich Regals Stamp Clubs using the Pop Up Christmas Tree! Yes, I'm partial and I think this is just way too cool!!! I know that the people who receive it will be so impressed!

The actual size of the card folded is 6" x 6". You can make the square smaller, probably about a 5" x 5" size. You can also mail this but you will have to pay extra postage (which is definitely worth it). The words on the front where colored with the Stampin' Write Markers - Real Red and Garden Green.

Oh ... now doesn't the inside of this card just impress you!!! All we did was put the tree together and insert it in the middle of the card. On the Very Vanilla part of the card, we stamped the words using Garden Green and for the embellishment, we colored the image in with the Stampin' Write Markers - Real Red and Garden Green again.

I won't kid you, there were some interesting comments from the club members this weekend when we put the tree together. When I put my first tree together, there was definitely a learning curve. But when I made my second, then third one, I found it much easier. It's just figuring out how everything interlocks!! You could even cut out a bunch of them, then make them while you watch your favorite television show (or watch television with your husband while he watches his favorite television show - I call this "bonding time with spouse").

Enjoy your Monday and if you have a chance, hop on over to www.mojomonday.blogspot.com and see what you can create with the design sketch. I haven't had a chance to play in over a month (missing it terribly), but I think of it every Monday!!!

Step Up with Magnetic Boxes

During the month of October, if you were a hostess in 2008, you are entitled to the Monthly Hostess Special. This month is the Magnetic Boxes. They come two to a package and are flat in the package. There is really nothing to assemble other than to push up the sides and fold a flap! I like how they fasten using a magnetic strip which is hid in the flap. I also love how pretty and elegant the boxes look!

While I had the boxes for a while, I hadn't had a chance to decorate them. Since my group at the Friday night Rub-On Class is so good, they really have little use for me, so they let me stamp (they really are too good to me). For this first box, I created a belly band using Old Olive cardstock and wheeled the Soft Holly wheel for the top edge. I then wrapped the Dotted Red Ribbon (another favorite of mine) around the belly band and tied it in a knot. The tag was created using the Delightful Decorations stamp set, then punched out with the Ornament Punch! Of course, I attached the tag with dimensionals!

For this box, I wanted to try to stamp a design on the box. I knew that since the surface of the box was slick and a little shiny, that the only work that may work is Stazon (and I love using Stazon). I stamped the image onto the box and waited for it to dry before touching it. Since the images remained shiny, I wasn't sure they dried, but they did and rather quickly!! Oh gosh, they are too cute!!! I tied the ribbon around the top of the box and attached the word image using dimensionals. Wouldn't this be cute with some holiday treats??

As a prior hostess, you still have an opportunity to take advantage of this wonderful offer. All you have to do is place an order of $50 or more and you get a package of the boxes FREE!! Don't worry if you place your order on line, I'll make sure you get a pack!

Hope you enjoy your Sunday afternoon!!

Oh Christmas Tree . . .

It's been a great stamping day today and also last night! Let's see, last night was the Dotted Rub On Class which was awesome and then today was the Rich Regals Stamp Club. We always do special projects for the stamp clubs since the members make a six month commitment and also because of the small size of the club. I was anxious to pull out my Christmas Tree Pop Up Die since I got it, so today was the day! I've now made only about 5 or 6 of the trees and while it might be a little complicated at first, once you get it - well, you get it! We did decide today that you really have to like the person you are going to give this card to for Christmas, but I bet whoever gets it will absolutely love it and open and shut it a 100 times!! After we completed the card with the Christmas Tree Pop Up (I don't want to share this with you yet because we will be making this card in the Bold Brights Stamp Club tomorrow), I was wondering what the tree would look like in Silver. I pulled out the Crushed Silver cardstock, cut out the pieces and put the tree together. Then I thought how cool it would be to put it in a box so you can sit it out and display it during the holidays. Above to the right is the box I created to shelter my tree (he he). Do you want to see how it looks when the lid comes off? Okay!! :-)

Oh gosh, I just love the way this looks!!! I do have another idea with the Christmas Tree Pop Up Die, but I'm going to save that for tomorrow. For now, I'm going to relax on the sofa for the evening where it is nice and warm and cozy ... with thoughts that hey, I get to stamp again tomorrow! Woo hoo!!!!
