Scrapping with Love Stories Simply Scrappin' Kit

Today was the Tailor Made Scrapbooking Class where each person made 10 pages. Believe it or not, the first person finished in an hour and the pages were super! I really like this Simply Scrappin' Kit because the colors are right for so many different events and can be used for masculine pictures! While everyone was creating their pages, I felt kinda envious as they were creating and I was just sitting here .. supervising. Frankly, I wanted to play too! So, they let me (they are so nice to me!)

I pulled out the Love Stories Simply Scrappin' Kit found on pg. 164 of the Idea Book and Catalog. This kit reminds me of weddings and I called it kind of "foo foo". Really, foo foo isn't me, so to use this kit was really a challenge. I started out cutting some of my cardstock the same measurements as the pages used in the Tailor Made Scrapbooking Class to see how they would come out. Some of the color combinations didn't work with the same layout, so I pulled out some Soft Subtles cardstock. Unfortunately, I didn't have the colors I needed (but I'll remedy that tonight with my order), but I was able to get six pages done. Now, when I mean done, they are created using elements in the Simply Scrappin' Kit. When I add pictures, then I add some other details depending on the pictures. After everyone left, I pulled out my box of photographs and completed the following two pages. Now, keep in mind I didn't have any wedding photographs, but once I started going through photos, I easily found photos for the pages. See, I was wrong. Ouch - I can't believe I said that! You don't have to have wedding photographs with this Simply Scrappin Kit!!! Duh - sometimes its a challenge for me to step outside the box!! Here are two of the pages!

When I found this picture of my mother-in-law with those pink pants on, I knew this picture would be perfect on this page. Togetherness, family and love!

Isn't he just so adorable! It's hard to believe he's going to be 22 years old the end of June! As I look back on many of the pictures of Kirk when he was young, he was always smiling. He still makes my heart go pitter-patter!

Below is a picture of the items in the Love Stories Simply Scrappin' Kit.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that this Simply Scrappin' Kit will not be in the upcoming 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog as it has "Pink Pirouette" cardstock, which is being retired the end of June! So, if this kit appeals to you, you have until the end of the month to purchase it! Don't forget - the Last Chance List (formerly the Retired List) will be published tomorrow, so you'll know for sure.

I hope you had a super weekend .... and get ready for June 1!

Today's Stamp A Stack

Today was our May Stamp-a-Stack and we made some great cards. (As I type that, I'm thinking .... would I ever say we made some really ugly cards??) Anyway, we really did and used a bunch of ribbon! I think everyone was tired tying by the end of the class. I will share a few of my favorites with you, although it will be hard because we made .. some really great cards! You can just imagine that I'm sitting here, computer on my lap, just giggling while I type and those of you know me personally are thinking ... there she goes again! Okay, I digress ... I'll let the pictures do the talking!!!

Embossing on DSP (designer series paper). Totally loved the effect of this!

I pulled the colors for this card off the Color Coach and with the distressing and paper piercing, love the end result of this card. Plenty of layers really make this card elegant!!

This is a card that I copied from my sister, Robin, when she was in town over the Memorial Day holiday! I love everything about it!!

I hope this makes up for not posting the last few days. Tomorrow is the Tailor Made Scrapbooking Class which will be alot of fun! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Clear Thanks

Today I thought I would feature another card made using the Printed Window Sheets. I really like how the swirls that are embossed on the Riding Hood Red cardstock add to the swirls on the Printed Window Sheet. When I attached this Window Sheet, I applied a Mini Glue Dot underneath the "K" in the word Thank and also used the Clear Rhinestone Brad in the center of one of the flowers from the Fleurettes found on pg. 177 of the Catalog. The ribbon is attached underneath the Printed Window Sheet.

Listed below are the items used on this project:

Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Printed Window Sheets
Other: Fleurettes, Clear Rhinestone Brads, Paper Pierce, Mini Glue Dots, Big Shot, Stampin' Up! Backgrounds I Texturz Plates, Texturz Impressions Pad, Texturz Silicone Pad, 5/8" Striped Pink Pirouette Ribbon

Remember, the Printed Window Sheets can be found in the Occasions Mini Catalog which is good through June 30, 2009!!!!

Glittery Sticky Sweets Class

On Saturday, May 23, I hosted the Glittery Sticky Sweets Class and it was an absolute blast! To the right are the four projects that we completed at the class. It is always so hard to capture the sparkle from glitter in photographs - I do wish you could see these in person. I had these projects completed about a week before the class and everytime I walked by them, the sparkle caught my eye.

We learned different ways to apply the Sticky Cuts Sweet shapes to our cardstock. The great thing about the Sticky Cuts Sweet is that there are various die cut shapes to enhance your projects. I call the Sticky Cuts - Sticky Strip on steroids! They are so much fun! We also used the Fine Supernova Stampin' Glitter - aren't these colors just beautiful?

Don't be afraid to try them - you'll find out exactly how much fun the Sticky Cuts and Glitter are!

Mojo Monday

I don't think there are too many people that look forward to Monday's EXCEPT when Monday is a holiday! Really, I think Monday's are the hardest day of my week EXCEPT when Monday is a holiday! I even slept in until 9:00 a.m. this morning and enjoyed every minute of sleep! So today, I participated in what is called "Mojo Monday". Each Monday, a design sketch is published and you make projects according to the design sketch. To the right is the picture of today's Mojo Monday design sketch. You can visit this website yourself by going to mojomonday.blogspot.com. I urge you to select a design sketch and see what you can come up with. I tend to have problems sometimes coming up with layouts for my cards. I get in a rut - that comfort zone when I find something that works. So, this helped me step out of the box a little bit and I had a blast coming up with some projects.

Since I actually had some time to play on the Memorial Holiday, I made three different cards incorporating this Mojo Monday layout. You know, Kiwi Kiss is really becoming one of my favorite colors (not as favorite as Baja Breeze tho). I absolutely love this Kiwi Kiss card!

Let's Dance

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! It was a great one at the Johnson house for sure! Today marks the one week anniversary of our new kittens - Dugan and Darci. There is never a dull moment with those two around.

This weekend, Dugan and Darci were introduced to the members of the Rich Regals and Bold Brights Stamp Clubs! We all enjoyed them except when they tried to climb our legs to get up on the table! I must remember - they are only kittens!!!! Fortunately, kittens are extremely cute .. so they really get away with alot of things!

Between cat climbing and keeping them from chewing on the cardstock, we managed to create three gorgeous cards! I'm sharing with one of the cards we did. Isn't this dress to cute?? We created it using the Scallop Circle Die #2, Big Shot and the Walk in the Park DSP (which is in the Occasions Mini Catalog). In the picture, you'll see where I used a Clear Rhinestone Brad, but during the club meeting, we used the Very Vanilla circle scallop ribbon slides found in the Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware. We all agreed that it looked better then the Clear Rhinestone Brad.

See, there is no end to what you create with the Big Shot, huh! :-)

p.s. I was working on the projects for the Glittery Sticky Sweets class this Saturday ... and oh man, you guys are going to have a blast!!!!!

Polka Dot Window Sheets

This is another project we made at my Tuesday night downline meeting. This one uses the polka dot printed window sheet and the Great Friend stamp set, both of which are in the Occasions Mini Catalog. The colors are Bravo Burgundy and Mellow Moss and we enhanced the card with the Mellow Moss Taffeta Ribbon! I was absolutely thrilled at the final outcome of this card.

How did I attach the window sheet? I used Snail and put in on the Bravo Burgundy cardstock where the focal image would be on top, that way when I mounted the focal image, it hides the Snail!

Never underestimate the power of Snail .. and a focal point! They work wonders!

Attaching Window Sheets

On Tuesday night, I had my downline meeting and we played with the Printed Window Sheets. We had such a great time and for those who could not attend - we certainly missed you!

When I look at a group of projects that I create, sometimes I have one favorite that just grabs me. We did four projects on Tuesday night and I had a hard time picking a favorite. I decided that I should share this project with you first because I learned a great tip!

As you can see, I stamped the Word Image from the On Your Birthday stamp set onto the printed window sheet. It was really easy to line this up because I put the window sheet on my grid paper, then lined up the words on the grid paper using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. That was cool!! But wait, there's more. I stamped the words using Jet Black Staz On and guess what - one of those blasted backs from a Dimensional got on my stamp, so when I stamped the image, it globbed! What to do? Vicki says - get Stazon Cleaner, that will work! Well, it did and it also removed the printed part off the window sheet! Okay, what next. Lori pipes up -- turn the window sheet over and use that side! That way if you mess it up, you can just use the Staz On Cleaner, it won't remove the printed part and you can do it again! A revelation for sure!!!! So, I stamped in on the back and it worked out perfectly! Remember that when you do stamp on the window sheets, you want to use Staz On ink! xdcEDDD DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD DDDDDDDDddddddddd ddddd (I was going to delete that, but I didn't type it -- Dugan did! He's our new black kitten that +++++++++++++++++++ (there he goes again) thinks he can type whenever he wants!!!)

Okay, back to the project. We adhered this window sheet using the Clear Rhinestone Brads. I love the fact that they are sold separately! Brads are a great way to adhere your window sheets!

Have you noticed the DSP we used? It is from the Bella Bleu DSP package. It's sooo elegant and gorgeous! This is one of the first packages I bought back in January when the new catalog was released. This cardstock coordinates with Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla and Kraft. If you looking for DSP that is not too bold and not too soft, this is .... just right (were you thinking of the story of the three bears when you read that??)

Tomorrow, I'll share another project that we did. I think you'll love it as much as I do! You can find the Printed Window Sheets on pg. 10 of the Occasions Mini and you get two sheets in each package! Here's the scoop!

I guarantee you won't be disappointed in this product!
