Stamp, Play and Create - January 2009

Sometimes we forget about the basics in stamping. I know I do. One of the first techniques I learned was "Popping Pastels". It was one of those "WOW" techniques that was quick and easy and the first word out of my mouth was "WOW". I used this technique to create this card and I love it!!!!

I used the stamp set entitled "A Light Unto My Path". I had been wanting this stamp set for quite some time and finally purchased it, only to discover shortly after that it was on the Retired List. Hey, that's okay, because I do love this stamp set!!!! All I did was stamp the image onto Naturals White cardstock using VersaMark ink. Then, I lightly rubbed on Pastels (used Brocade Blue and Close to Cocoa) on the image and the pastels adhered to the VersaMark ink! Zip-ba-dee-doo-da .. it was done!!! Now, as I explained to those who attended the workshop, when I did the layout on my 3" x 6" card, it just seemed there was some extra space. As I was focusing on a manly card, I really didn't want to add ribbon or other embellishments, so I just cut 1/2" off the bottom of the cardstock, creating a 3" x 5-1/2" card! Worked out perfectly and it can be mailed in our Small Open End Envelopes and there is no extra fee!!! Now you just have to love that! You'll see I used the paper piercer to embellish the word phrase - still keeping with that manly theme!!!

So, let's go pop and pull out your Pastes and VersaMark pad!!! You'll love it!
